Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has approved the immediate disbursements of funds to contractors handling major state government projects across the state to ensure its timely completion.

This was one of the resolutions at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Emmanuel, at the state EXCO chambers, Government House, Uyo.

Briefing Government house Correspondents at the end of the meeting, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, said the decision was in line with the governor’s promise to inject funds into the system to stimulate the economy, adding that Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour contracts would soon be awarded.

According to Emem-Obong, the state government has also put measures in place to re-activate Scholarship Schemes for students of the state in tertiary institutions.

The state information boss further disclosed that the executive council also approved an environment policy to ensure a clean environment in the state, while plans are underway for the remodeling of the Plaza located at the city center to enhance the aesthetics of the state.
