Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has announced that the state owned Airlines, Ibom Air is set to commence regional flight to the Republic of Gambia before the end of this year.
Governor Emmanuel who disclosed this when the Gambian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohamadou Musa-Njie, visited him at Government House, Uyo, thanked the Gambian High Commissioner and the President of Gambia for indicating interest in fostering a mutually beneficial economic relations between Akwa Ibom State and The Gambia.
The Governor acknowledged the tourism potentials in Gambia and advocated for synergy to take advantage of the resources available in the Gulf of Guinea.

Earlier in his remark, the Gambian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohamadou Njie, expressed the desire of his home government to partner the state in the area of Tourism, Commerce and Industry as well as aviation.
Government house correspondent Jane Uwa reports that the High Commissioner later presented a letter of invitation from the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow, to Governor Udom Emmanuel for a visit to Gambia to strengthen industrial and trade relations.
