
EFCC Arrest Accountant-General Of The Federation Ahmed Idris Over 80 Billion Naira Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) Ahmed Idris over an 80 billion naira fraud.
EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren confirmed his arrest in a statement, noting that Idris was arrested after failing to honour the commission’s invitations to respond to issues connected to the fraudulent act.
According to the statement, the Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates, adding that the funds were laundered via real estate investments.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on June 25, 2015 approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Idris as the Accountant General of the Federation.
Alhaji Ahmed Idris who hails from Kano State was born on the 25th November 1960 and was until his appointment the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
