7TH year ANNIVERSARY, PLANET 101.1 FM

It is being said that ‘’the journey of a thousand miles begin with a step’’. From there on, every move made by the initiator inches him closer to the place of life, destiny and vision. So it was when seven years ago, this reputable media organization was birthed in the heart of Akwa Ibom state IN IBIAKU URUAN to be precise.

From inception, PLANET 101.1 FM armed with a team of virile professionals, articulate administrative strength, and well-meaning management, the station set a sail for the ocean of good fortunes. The mix of these applaudable factors in management, administration and professionalism built the castle known today as Planet 101.1 FM situated in the capital city of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.It is no gainsaying that the establishment of Planet 101.1 FM in the Akwa Cross region is a source of multiple blessing to the South-southern state.

As a media organization, the firm has ensured a fair and balanced reportage system – credible, and efficiently directed. The presence of the station has created more jobs for indigenes and non-indigenes breaking the cords of ethnocentrism – by promoting the virtuous embodiments of patriotism at all times.It will be recalled that the CEO of the media firm, Mr. Tony Afia was at the 2019 CMC AFRICA AWARDS inducted alongside the league of the nation’s leading mediapreneur like Chief Adebisi Olatilo, CEO of BISCON TV, as patron(s) of the CMC Gladiators group, DCP ABBA KYRI COMMANDER OF IGP INTELLIGENCE RESPOND TEAM, AIG AHMED ILIYASU PSC COMMANDER OF ZONE 2 POLICE HEADQUARTERS .On one hand, this recognition stems from the immense work of humanity through balanced media services and community development projects that Planet 101.1 FM under the steadfast leadership of Mr. Afia is undertaking in the Akwa Cross region.

On the other hand, it serves to the nation in general, a glimmer of righteousness when groom darkness seems to be the order of the day. PLANET FM was also honoured with the award – MOST OUTSTANDING RADIO STATIONOn this symbolic seventh birthday of the radio station, the President of CMC Gladiators (himself an indigene of Akwa Ibom) AMBASSADOR Cornell UDOFIA described the station as a pride to the nation, and a representation of what people from the Akwa Cross region are reputed for. He minced no words when he wrote: ‘’Today, I join the world to celebrate an outstanding media organization- Planet 101.1FM as they clock 7 years today. I know that the terrain in which they operate is not an easy one: grappled by incidental journalists and daily confronted by haters of truth. But as according to the Latin dictum: Voxi Populi , Voxi Dei – The voice of the people is the voice of God, indeed, the ambit of your just operations has created a wide bandwidth for the organization to continue to grow in leaps and bounds. I wish PLANET 101.1 FM greater successes in coming years’’

Beneficiaries commend Planet FM over one million naira relief fund,

The Board and Management of Planet 101.1FM today distributed relief fund of 5,000 naira each to two hundred select households living below poverty lines, as well as the most vulnerable amongst residents within its host community, as part of its corporate social responsibility to support government in cushioning the effects of COVID-19 on the standard of living of citizens.

The outreach supported hundred households who meet the criteria in Ibiaku Uruan, sixty in Utit Uruan and forty in Eman Uruan. Speaking with Planet News, some of the beneficiaries expressed utmost delight at the gesture.

Asked how much they know about the current pandemic ravaging the world, the people expressed a commendable level of awareness.

In their responses, the General Manager Planet 101.1FM, Sunday Edet, and the Manager, Human Resources, Barrister Imaobong Duru, expressed optimism that the company will continue doing its best in support of vulnerable sects when the need arises.

The distribution of the palliatives to the tune of one million naira was done at the station’s transmission location in Ibiaku Uruan, where government’s directive on social distancing was carried out.

The board and management of Planet 101.1FM has announced a relief outreach of 5,000 naira each to two hundred select households living below poverty lines, as well as the most vulnerable amongst residents within its host community, as part of its corporate social responsibility to support government in cushioning the effects of COVID-19 on the standard of living of citizens.

In a release signed by chairman and CEO Planet 101.1FM, Tony Afia, the outreach is intended to support hundred households who meet the criteria in Ibiaku Uruan, sixty in Utit Uruan and fourty in Emman Uruan.

The release further notes that date for the disbursements is Monday 20^th April 2020, at the Planet FM transmission station Ibiaku Uruan by 10am.

Village heads and community leaders are expected to assist in the selection and verification of target beneficiaries, just as the release stresses that government directive on social distancing will be strictly observed.

Planet Radio holds end of year thanksgiving, promises more dividends of broadcasting

Management and staff of Planet FM yesterday gathered at Insight Bible Church Uyo for the end of year Thanksgiving Service to appreciate God for sustaining the media organization despite all the emerging challenges.

Leading the thanksgiving session, the CEO of planet Radio, Tony Afia who led management and staff of the station to the service, stated that it was the tradition of the station to organise thanksgiving service annually to show appreciation to God. He further spoke about the prospect of the station in coming year.

Our Correspondent, Anthony Esin reports that the presiding minister, Dr Sylvanus Ukafia, who spoke after the service, commended the station for maintaining the tradition of annual thanksgiving, noting that such event is sacrosanct for a corporate organization that seeks to stand out.

On their part, staff of the station expressed excitement for the successes recorded in the year 2018 while hoping for more rewarding time in the new year 2019.
