Passengers have expressed mixed feelings following the approval by President Muhammadu Buhari for the commencement of interstate travelling which was halted due to coronavirus.
President Buhari through the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha had announced during the daily briefing on Monday that interstate travelling would resume from Wednesday July 1.
Speaking with Planet News while monitoring the commencement at the AKTC Park in Uyo, passengers who were happy for the development, however expressed worry over the hundred percent increment in the transport fare.
Although low turnout of passengers was witnessed, the General Manager, Angela Afia said everything was put in place in line with NCDC directives to ensure that passengers and drivers were safe, adding that the increase in price was occasioned by the need to reduce the number of passengers per trip.
According to the new price, passengers to Lagos and Abuja pay as high as N11,000, Calabar N2,000, Port-harcourt N2,700 while passengers going to Umuahia pay N2,500, and those going to Benin pay N6,500, among others.
