The Akwa Ibom Ibom State House of Assembly has made a move to establish entrepreneurial hubs and vocational centers in Primary and Secondary Schools across the State.
The move was sequel to the motion brought to the floor of the House by the Member representing Uyo State Constituency, Anietie Eka, who pointed out that the establishment of entrepreneurial hubs and skills centers in Primary and Secondary Schools will help produce intelligent and productive graduates who will not be dependent on white-collar jobs after their graduation from school.
Eka decried that despite the fact that Akwa Ibom State is blessed with enormous natural resources, most of our graduates lack the entrepreneurial skills to take up the spaces in the industrialization move and completion agenda of the present administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
In their deliberation, members submitted that the motion will help in reducing the rate of unemployment in the state, as the establishment of the skills centers will enable school pupils to learn diverse skills.
The Speaker, Aniekan Bassey, referred the motion to House Committee on Education for further legislative action and to report back to the house in two weeks. The House was adjourned to the 3rd day of March, to reconvene.
