Akwa Ibom State government has announced the immediate re-opening of livestock markets in the state for commercial activities.
The market was earlier closed by the state government as part of the Covid 19 restrictions.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the state COVID-19 Management Committee, Doctor Emmanuel Ekuwem says the government’s decision to reopen the market was subject to the extant COVID-19 guidelines and protocols and the agreement reached by the livestock dealers association and the state government on the procedure for the re-opening of the markets.
Doctor Ekuwem therefore advised the dealers and public in general to adhere strictly to the state government-NCDC-WHO COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols for public places, which includes Proper use of face masks at all times within the markets, Provision of facilities for hand washing and personal hygiene, Maintaining Social Distancing and Provision of Proper sewage and other waste material disposal mechanisms.
