AKSG assures citizens of zero confirmed case of Corona Virus in the state

Akwa Ibom State government has again assured the people of the state that there is NO confirmed case of the Corona Virus pandemic in the state, following reports making the rounds that the state has allegedly recorded a case.

The State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Dominic Ukpong who gave the assurance while giving an update on the Corona Virus pandemic, stressed that the state government has intensified preventive measures to prevent the spread of the virus to the state.

According to him, Some of the measures include the provision of screening facilities at all entry points to the state including the airport, provision of personal protection equipment for health personnel while functional ambulances and rapid response team are on standby in case of eventualities to move suspected victims to the emergency centers for management.

Doctor Ukpong who appealed to the Nigerian Navy to assist the government to intensify patrol of the shorelines to reduce the chances of infected persons gaining access to the state, however, warned that those who spread panic through fake news would be apprehended and prosecuted.
