AKSG Directs public and private schools in the states to close on or before Friday, March 27

Akwa Ibom state government has directed all Public and private schools in the state to conclude all examinations for second term 2019/2020 academic year on or before Friday, March 27 and proceed on holidays immediately.

According to a release signed by the Director of information, Akparawa James Edet, the commissioner for education, Professor Nse Essien gave the directive at a meeting with heads of educational Boards, Agencies and tertiary institutions in the state.

Profesor Essien directs that schools that have already concluded their examinations should proceed on second term holiday without further delay as third term is expected to commence on 4th May this year.

The education commissioner charged public and private schools heads to maintain high standard hygiene in schools and educate students and ensure that all precautionary measures are taken to prevent the possible outbreak of COVID-19 infection.

While appreciating the support and corporation of parents in both public and private institutions, Professor Essien affirmed that the West African Examination Council – WAEC has suspended the 2019/2020 WAEC Examination till further notice.
