Akwa Ibom State government has been urged to consider employment of more nurses to put to rest the persistent problem of shortage of nurses in the state’s health sector.
The Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives – NANNM, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Imo-Abasi Moses who stated this in a brief chat with Planet News said the call was necessary especially given the current troubling health situation globally, adding that employing more nurses will bring about more effective healthcare delivery in the state.
Describing nurses as the backbone of the health sector, she maintained that nurses as the primary care givers should be held in high esteem if the state’s health sector must be reinvigorated.
Our correspondent Anthony Esin reports that the PRO of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, however, commended the state government for the effort made in preparing health to tackle the dreaded coronavirus pandemic in the event of possible outbreak in the state.
