Akwa Ibom state Governor Pastor Umo Eno has announced his determination to support Akwa Ibom state University, Ikot Akpaden campus in Mkpat Enin local government area, in the completion of their hostel project and an intervention in the construction of internal roads in the school.

The Governor who made the announcement during a familiarization tour of facilities at the school, assured that the state commissioner for Education, Idongesit Etiebiet and her works counterpart, Professor Eno Ibanga have been directed to work on the interventions respectively.
Governor Eno used the occasion to thank the university community for their support during the electioneering period, which also contributed to his emergence as the Governor of the state and pledged his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, in justification of his election as their leader.

He equally thanked the TETFUND for the support they have given to the school and assured the school community that he will revisit for more interactions and support for the growth of the school. The Governor used the occasion to equally applaud the pro-Chancellor of the school, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma for his various contributions to the development of the state.

Earlier the Pro-chancellor of the university, Senator Udoma who thanked Governor Eno for honoring his invitation, assured the governor that an improved state university will make a good contribution to the ARISE agenda of his government. He stated his determination to making the school one of the first class universities.
On his part, the vice chancellor of the school, Professor Nse Essien who also thanked the Governor for the visit, enumerated the achievements of the institution so far to include full accreditation of 48 academic programmes by the National Universities Commission. Government house correspondent Jane Uwa reports that the Governor who also visited the temporary site of the Federal University of Technology in Ikot Abasi, assured them of his readiness to support them in the construction of 15 classroom blocks and renovation of one hostel for the institution.
