Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel Calls On CBN To Extend Deadline For Return Of Old Naira Notes
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria to extend the deadline for the return of old naira notes.
Governor Emmanuel made the call while speaking at this month’s Government House Prayer Service at Government House, Uyo.
The governor, who noted that the policy of the redesign of the naira notes may have some benefits to the economy, however insisted that the timing and deadline for the return of the old naira notes was inappropriate. Governor Emmanuel called for more enlightenment by the CBN on the policy for the benefits of those in the inter lands and the un-banked population to key into the programme.
The Governor further used the occasion to again charge the people to elect only credible leaders with capacity to manage the resources of the nation for the benefit of millions of Nigerians.
