The Essien Udim’s rerun election at Ukana West Ward 2, the polling unit of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was relatively peaceful but with a low turnout of voters in the early hours of voting.
Speaking with planet news, some voters at the center expressed satisfaction with the process, saying they are expecting a credible outcome that would reflect their choices.
Meanwhile one of the electorates, a 70-year-old man who came to vote with the temporary voter’s card and was however not allowed to take part in the process, decried the use of card reader for the conduct of the elections.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, who was at the polling unit to cast his vote, had alleged intimidation of some voters by security men at the entrance of the polling center.
Our correspondent Anthony Esin reports that the polling unit has three voting points named A, B and C, while the Polling Officer, Emmanuel Egbase said he enjoyed the cooperation of both the security agents and the party agents.
