Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has announced that plans are in top gear for the payment of bursaries to Akwa Ibom students in tertiary institutions to alleviate their sufferings on campuses.
Governor Emmanuel who made the announcement at a solidarity rally by Students from all tertiary institutions in the State, restated that his commitment to uphold the social contracts he entered with the people is sacrosanct, adding that he will leave no stone unturned in preparing the future for the students.
Earlier in her speech, the special assistant to the Governor on student Matters, Comrade Aquilla Oto-Obong said the endorsement and solidarity march was in appreciation of the governor for his student friendly policies.
Also in their speeches, the leaders of the students in their various campuses, who commended Governor Emmanuel for facilitating the accreditation of various courses in their institutions, proscription of cultism, provision of basic facilities to aid their learning process, assured the Governor that the love will be reciprocated on March 2 with their votes to ensure his Continuious stay in office.
Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that high point of the event was the presentation of a souvenir to the governor by the student leaders, where they scored him high on performance in all sectors and urged him to continue beyond 2019.
The Governor Emmanuel also announced the donation of three buses to the students and finincial grants to aid their movements and learning processes.
