Akwa Ibom state Governor Udom Emmanuel has charged the people of the state to make the right choices in the forthcoming elections to avoid taking the state back into the dark ages of lack of peace and unity, while also reaffirming his commitment to upholding a Christ centered principle in the administration of the state.
Governor Emmanuel who stated this in his speech during a Solemn assembly to usher in year 2019 and rededicate the state to God with the Theme: You are God, You alone, held at the Ibom Hall grounds, said the year will bring continuous prosperity, peace and unity.
While thanking God for His love for the state during the preceding year, the Governor prayed God to continue manifesting his glory in Akwa Ibom and attributed the successes recorded so far by his administration to God’s grace.
Earlier in his message, Arch Bishop Idem Ikon urged the people to rise above sin and change their lifestyle to suit God. He further prayed that the state be rescued from the clutches of fear and intimidation and continue to tow the path of peace enjoyed in the Udom Emmanuel led government.
Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that highpoint of the event which also featured a thanksgiving by the state House of Assembly led by the speaker Onofiok Luke who appreciated God for not allowing the legislature to be over run in the last year, was the intercessory prayers for the repentance of the state and nation and re-dedication of the state to God in prayers.
