Akwa Ibom State Governor,  Udom Emmanuel, has announced that the state government would not tolerate any act of hooliganism among students in public primary and secondary schools in the state, stressing that the government would deal decisively with those caught involved in or sponsoring cultism.

Governor Emmanuel who gave the warning while addressing members of the People’s Democratic party-PDP at an enlarged stakeholder meeting held at the banquet hall, Government House Uyo, stressed that the government would not allow students in primary and secondary schools to disrupt the educational system in the state.

While decrying the rising cases of social vices in schools, the Governor who restated that the state government has made huge investments in the educational system to sustain the free education policy, called on parents and guardians to call their wards to order.

Governor Emmanuel who also decried the alleged incessant vandalism and stealing of government properties in some communities across the state especially electrical installations and medical equipment appealed to community leaders to protect government infrastructures cited in their areas.

On the forthcoming congress of the PDP, Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that the governor said the state will implement the directive of the national working committee of the party by giving thirty-five percent of the positions to women to encourage women participation in party politics.
