Ahead of the Bayelsa state governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC is promising to deliver a successful election that will be an improvement on the 2019 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja at a roundtable on INEC’s preparedness for the election, the director general of the electoral institute Sa’ad Idris, assured Nigerians that the commission will do things differently in the conduct of the Kogi and Bayelsa elections.

The chairman of the board of the electoral institute, Adedeji Soyebi, and the supervising national commissioner for Bayelsa state admitted there have been mistakes in the past, but would be corrected on the 16th of November.

Addressing INEC officials and members of civil society organisations, the guest lecturer at the roundtable, Sofiri Joab identified violence and political thuggery as landmines that may militate against the delivery of a successful elections in Bayelsa state.
