Malaysia’s King Muhammad The Fifth resigns

Malaysia’s King Muhammad The Fifth has resigned, the first time a monarch has stepped down from the throne in the country before completing their five-year tenure.

The National Palace said in a statement that Muhammad’s resignation took effect immediately, but did not give a reason for the 49-year-old royal’s abrupt move.

IN ANOTHER NEWS – Prime Minister Theresa May has said the Commons vote on her Brexit deal will “definitely” go ahead next week as she vowed to redouble her efforts to win Members of Parliament round.

She said she would set out new measures on Northern Ireland and look at giving Members of Parliament more say in shaping negotiations over future trade relations.

The UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019 and Members of Parliament are expected to be asked to vote on it either the 14 or 15 of January.
