Management of  University of Uyo  decries funding challenges.

The Management of the University of Uyo has decried the challenge of funding, saying the institution has not been given its take-off grant by the federal government since its creation.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Enefiok Essien, who stated this in his address during the 25th convocation of the institution held at the Main Campus of the university said with the take-off grant the institution, would acquire more befitting structures for relocation of faculties at the Town Campus.

Some of the graduands at the University of Uyo who spoke with Planet News expressed excitement on their successful graduation while pledging to be good ambassadors of the university.

Our correspondent Anthony Esin reports that a total of 4,308 graduands were awarded certificates, diplomas, first degrees, Masters and Doctoral degrees at the convocation while two distinguished personalities, wife of Akwa Ibom State governor, Martha Udom Emmanuel and the CEO of Channels TV, John Momoh, were conferred with the Honorary Doctorate degrees.
