Workers in Akwa Ibom have been assured of the the state government’s readiness to implement the new national minimum wage immediately the approved adjustment template is received from the federal government.
Speaking while addressing the state congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Head of the State Civil Service, Effiong Essien said the state was one of the first to set up a committee for the implementation, adding that the report of the committee was ready and government remains committed to the course. According to him, with the new payment expected soon, workers in the state will earn more and will boost the economic development of the state
He thanked the state governor for approving the promotion of over 6,000 workers and the payment of pensions as well as systematic clearance of backlog of gratuities and called on workers to show more commitment in the discharge of their duties to help the government achieve its completion agenda
