English Championship outfit Stoke City is reportedly eyeing a move for
former super eagles captain John Obi Mikel.
The 33-year-old Nigeria international is currently a free agent after
acrimoniously terminating his contract with Turkish club Trabzonspor
Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill is understood to be keen on bringing in a
holding midfielder and Mikel could be a major target.
He was recently linked with a move to Brazilian side Botafogo but the
move reported to have fallen through.

Newly promoted Premier League side West Bromwich Albion have also
been credited with an interest in the 2013 AFCON winner.
Mikel would bring vast experience, having made more than 350
appearances for Premier League giants Chelsea, winning 2 Premier
League titles, one UEFA Champions League title, one UEFA Europa
League trophy, four FA Cup titles and two League Cup titles.
Following a spell in China, he returned to England to sign for
Middlesbrough on a short-term deal in 2019, before making the move
Stoke were previously linked with Mikel back in 2015, when they were
still in the top flight.
