Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel officially launches state’s symbols to mark 33rd anniversary of state’s creation
Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has officially launched the state’s symbols which comprises of the State Flag, Anthem, Coat of Arms and Creed as part of activities to mark the 33rd anniversary of the state’s creation.
Governor Emmanuel who performed the ceremony at the state banquet hall government house Uyo, noted that the launching was long overdue, stressing that the state has made history as the symbols will serve as a thing of pride to the people of the state.
The governor, who thanked the state house of assembly for expediting action on the symbols bill, noted that the symbols represent the identity of the people of the state and expressed hope that they will serve as a source of unity of the people and end ancient animosities against each other.
On his part, the chairman of the symbols selection committee and permanent secretary Ministry of culture and tourism, Aniekpeno Mkpanang who commended the Governor for initiating and ensuring the execution of the project, stressed that it will go down in history as a landmark project in the administration of Governor Emmanuel.
Government house correspondent Jane Uwa reports that High point of the event was the formal hoisting of the state flag at the government house by the state governor, Udom Emmanuel.
