Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly holds public hearing on 2020 appropriation bill.
Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, through its committee on Finance and Appropriation has held budget briefing/public hearing on the 2020 Appropriation Bill of the state submitted to the House by Governor Udom Emmanuel for passage.
Declaring open the event the Speaker, Aniekan Bassey represented by the Deputy Speaker, Felicia Bassey pledged the resolve of the 7th Assembly to ensure diligence in considering the budget for timely passage.
In his remarks the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Uduak Udoudoh, assured of the readiness of the committee to handle the task effectively, stating that public hearing is a tradition in budget process meant to enable members of the public to make meaningful contributions, suggestions and criticisms aimed at ensuring the budget adapts to the yearnings and needs of the masses.
Various salient contributions were made during the exercise by stakeholders including Chairman Trade Union Congress, Comrade Dominic Abang, Vice Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Iboro Ibara and Civil Liberty Organisation representative, amongst
