The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) yesterday appointed the award-winning Nigerian Musician,producer and song writer, Cobhams Asuguo, as it’s National Ambassador.
United Nations Children’s Fund Nigerian Representative, Peter Hawkins, made the appointment known yesterday during his meeting with newsmen in Kaduna.
He also noted that Cobhams appointment marks UNICEF Nigerian first appointment in the last 15 Years.
Hawkins further stated that Cobhams appointment as the National Ambassador,would help raise awareness in concerns around children’s rights and solutions which includes issues around birth registration, immunisation, education band protection from violence.
UNICEF while officially welcoming The celebrated artist into the Nigerian United Nations Children’s Fund family, expressed their delight to have Asuquo to the UNICEF family on a day that is particularly set a side to honour every Nigerian child, this they said is to commemorate with his effort in supporting UNICEF to raise awareness on children’s and youths issues.
In his remarks Cobhams express his gratitude ” I am humbled and honored at the opportunity to serve in the capacity, children right and protection mean a lot to me”
