The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the grace period for the enforcement of the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicles to 2 October 2025.
In a statement on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the decision followed a surge in applications via the official portal, which he noted reflects increased public compliance.
According to Adejobi, the extension will allow for the meticulous scrutiny of applications to ensure permits are issued only to eligible and qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.
He added that the additional time will also be used to refine both digital and physical verification processes, aimed at maintaining the integrity of the permit system and preventing abuse.
