Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Offiong Offor Extols Governor Umo Eno’s Strides on First Year in Office, Urges Akwa Ibom People to Embrace Farming as Long-Term Advantage

The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Offiong Offor has lauded the Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno over the strides and impact recorded in the agriculture sector since his assumption into office by supporting farmers in the state.

Offor who gave the commendation during a special interview on Planet Fm, noted that the governor through his ARISE agenda initiative has distributed Agricultural Inputs to Public Primary and secondary Schools as well as boarding schools to inculcate in children the passion for Agriculture.

She further congratulated the governor for the great pace he has set to revolutionize agriculture in the state, advising Akwa Ibom people to take advantage of the opportunity by engaging actively in practical agriculture.

On the bulk purchase agency program by Governor Umo Eno, Dr. Offor said that the voucher which is to be given to sales agents at redemption centres to collect free food items for the vulnerable is put in place to guide against fraudulent activities in the process, stressing that the voucher is given to the Personal Assistants in all the wards, to access the food items for the vulnerable.

On the issue of expanding the social register, Offor stated that, the social register will likely be opened again in due time for the registration of people who were not able to leverage on the first opportunity, maintaining that sensitization of the general public will be conducted for participation.
