Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared Tuesday, January 2, 2024 as public holiday, to mark the New Year Thanksgiving and official opening of the International Christian Worship Centre in the state.

Governor Eno therefore called on all Akwa Ibom people to turn out as a people united under one God for the Thanksgiving Service, as he renewed his pledge to work for the unity and prosperity of the state, to reciprocate the love and confidence reposed on him by his election as governor and continuous show of support.

The governor made these known while speaking at the maiden edition of Nsit Ubium Day, an initiative of the governor billed to be an annual event to host his kinsmen, stakeholders of his government and Akwa Ibom people in celebration of his mandate as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Describing the event as homecoming and a great reunion, Governor Eno expressed special appreciation to the immediate past governor, Udom Emmanuel and wife, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, political stakeholders, royal fathers, religious leaders, Akwa Ibom people and non-indigenes living in the state, as well as dignitaries who travelled from far and wide to grace the event.

In appreciation of the turnout of Akwa Ibom people to join the celebration, the governor re-echoed his avowed commitment to deliver quality service to the people and ensure the state remains united.

On his part, the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, addressing the gathering in company of his wife, Martha, expressed pleasure over the ambience of the event and commended the incumbent governor for using the event to reinforce love, peace and harmony in the state, while also using the event to express appreciation for the love extended to them during the yuletide.

The former Governor prayed the love and peace that the coming of Jesus bears to abound in every Akwa Ibom family while urging the people to continually pray for Governor Umo Eno’s administration and for the peace and prosperity of the state.

Earlier In his remarks, the Transition Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Architect Iniobong Orok, described the event as an affirmation of Nsit Ubium’s love and acceptability of their governor.
