A former United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has said the bandits and terrorists in Nigeria will be defeated.
He said the UK, having dealt with terrorists in the past, was ready to render help to Nigeria in the fight against terrorism.
Johnson spoke at the 16th Session of the Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Lecture Series, held in Lagos. Johnson, who was the guest speaker, said for a country to function properly and unleash its potential, no one must be seen to be above the law. He also said Nigerians have the right to choose their leaders saying that development can only thrive in a democracy.
To prove why democracy should be further embraced by the world, Johnson pointed to Russia and China where their leaders cannot be given the same kind of treatment he received from authorities in the UK. The former PM said Nigeria was in need of freedom, security, democracy, openness and tolerance to achieve urban success, deliver equality and unleash potential.
