The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reached an agreement with European clubs to release Super Eagles players for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations latest January 1, 2024.
Reports say that the Super Eagles will open camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates same day for the competition.
Head coach, Jose Peseiro has reportedly submitted a 40-man provisional list to the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The list is expected to be pruned down to 27 latest January 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, European clubs have often been reluctant to release players in good time for the AFCON because it is often played in the middle of their leagues. But according to reports, the NFF has moved to avoid discord with the clubs by reaching agreement on time for the release of players for the tournament.
