The Federal Government has approved the payment of N25,000 of peculiar allowance for medical and dental doctors in hospitals, medical centres, and clinics in the federal public service.
This was disclosed in a letter signed by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Ekpo Nta.
Reports say that the release of the circular regarding the allowance may not be unconnected to the ongoing indefinite strike embarked on by members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors.
Meanwhile, the President of NARD, Dr Emeka Oji, in a recent interview with newsmen said doctors were demanding about 500 percent salary increase from the government.
