Ibom Air set to launch signature CSR project, FAM-pact to decrease malaria prevalence, in commemoration of world malaria day

In a bid to commemorate the 2024 world Malaria day, Ibom Air is set to launch its signature CSR project, FAM-pact (Fight against Malaria in Pregnant Women and Children Today).

 

A release signed by the General Manager, Marketing, and communication of Ibom Air, Aniekan Essienette and made available to newsmen, notes that the initiative underscores Ibom Air’s dedication to making a positive impact in the communities, stressing that it seeks to address the urgent issue of malaria among pregnant women and children under the age of five.

 

According to the release, FAM-pact is designed to significantly decrease malaria prevalence in these vulnerable groups through a range of strategic interventions, including awareness campaigns, distribution of insecticide-treated nets, provision of malaria medications, and community outreach programs, maintaining that as part of its launch, Ibom Air has donated insecticide-treated nets, essential malaria medications, and educational materials to the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health and directly benefiting communities across the state.

 

The release also states that to further amplify awareness and garner support, Ibom Air is inviting the public to participate in a solidarity walk against malaria on April 27th 2024 at 6 am, starting from the symbolic Globe at Wellington Bassey Way Uyo as the walk symbolizes unity and determination in the fight against malaria.

 

According to the Group Manager for Corporate Services, Imelda Aba, Ibom Air’s CSR thrust is centered on health education and community development. She said under the health initiative, they have had the opportunity to partner with organizations that take special care of infants and children’s needs and have facilitated much-needed intervention for children undergoing corrective heart surgery, amongst others.

Ibom Air thanked the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health, National End Malaria Council, PMI-S, Break-Through Action, Medical Women’s Association (Akwa Ibom State Chapter), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, office of the First Lady and GIFA, Feyrep, University of Uyo Medical Student Association, and other stakeholders.
