The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has directed the reconvening of plenary for an emergency sitting on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo.
Recall that the move comes shortly after the Senate, on February 4, rejected a proposed amendment to the Electoral Act.
The amendment sought to make the real-time electronic transmission of election results mandatory, a measure aimed at enhancing transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
