Trump Delays Reimposition of Higher Tariffs on Chinese Goods by 90 Days

United States President Donald Trump has signed an order delaying the reimposition of higher tariffs on Chinese goods, just hours before a trade truce between Washington and Beijing was set to expire.

According to Trump administration officials, the suspension of steeper tariffs will remain in place for another 90 days, offering both sides more time to address lingering trade tensions.

The move comes after months of escalating tariff exchanges between the world’s two largest economies. Earlier this year, the United States and China imposed punitive tariffs on each other’s products, with some rates climbing to prohibitive triple-digit levels, severely disrupting global trade.

In May, both countries reached a temporary agreement to lower certain tariffs in a bid to ease economic pressure and create room for negotiations. The latest extension appears aimed at preventing a fresh escalation while talks continue.
