FIFA Names New Officiating Team for 2026 World Cup Qualifying Match Between Benin Republic and Nigeria

FIFA has named a new officiating team for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between the Benin Republic and Nigeria.

The encounter is scheduled for the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny on Monday, June 10, 2024. The Ethiopian referee, Bamlak Weyesa, was originally scheduled to officiate the game.

Weyesa has now been replaced by a Gabonese official, Pierre Atcho. Weyesa’s compatriots, Temesgin  Atango and Tigle  Belachew, are retained as Assistant Referee 1 and Assistant Referee 2 respectively.

Another Ethiopian, Tewodros Mitiku, earlier designated as the fourth official, has been replaced by Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma
