Akwa Ibom state Governor Pastor Umo Eno, who has officially launched the Ibom Community Watch, a neighborhood security outfit initiated by the state government, to enhance security at the grassroots and partner security agencies in provision of intelligence.
Speaking during the formal launch and the passing out parade of the first batch of recruits, held at the Uyo Township stadium, Governor Eno who congratulated the 550 graduands, said the selection will be done across all units of the state to form a total of 5,000 community watchers.
According to the Governor, their terms of engagement are to partner with the security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst people, Provide intelligence to mainstream security agencies and ensure the protection of government property against vandalism, stressing that they will work under the strict supervision of the security agencies.
