Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) have commenced nationwide protests over the removal of petrol subsidy.
The protesters have converged on the Ikeja under-bridge in Lagos.
if the federal government fails to compel the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to reverse the increase in the pump price of petrol.
However, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) rejected the strike option and resolved to continue dialogue with government’s negotiation team over the contentious issue of fuel subsidy withdrawal.
The union also called on civil society organisations (CSOs) and its councils across the states to join in the August 2 nationwide rally to protest the soaring cost of living in the country.
